A video making the rounds on the internet seems to be casting a cloud of doubt on the future of Gernot Rohr as the Coach of Nigeria’s national team after the Super Eagles finished third in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Nigeria beat Tunisia 1-0 in the third-place match on Monday night to win bronze in the continental competition.
The viral footage which is a snippet from the presentation of bronze medals to the players showed President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick in a position suggesting he snubbed Rohr who was the last man on the queue after others team members had been decorated.
As the German walked towards the podium, the NFF President walked away from the stage and refused to shake hands with the coach like the other dignitaries.
Rohr himself seemed to be shocked as he looked back in surprise seeing Pinnick walking away.
The video has sparked a series of mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many expressing disappointments in Pinnick’s supposed act, while others claimed he couldn’t have snubbed the German coach.
See some of the reactions:
But this is not the full clip na. They eventually shook hands and even hugged, I watched it.
This was just when Pinnick was going to return the extra medal he had.
The truth is not the truth if it is not the whole truth.

Amaju Pinnick finally disgraced us in public. No matter the differences you both have, how can you ignore the National Team coach like this. You are the image of our football and you embarrassed us badly. May be it’s really time for you to go Pinnick. No re-election for him 🙏🏾 https://t.co/eDsTM0zCr9

Please, this was a wrong projection of what happen. Pinnick has the last Medal, and the medal was for him, so he gave it to the other dignitary to wear it on him. In a rush to do so, he did not shake hands with the coach. Let us disabuse our mind a little.

When victor Moses snub Pinnick I criticized him for being childish and Unprofessional!!
Now Pinnick (46) snubbing the coach he hired days after saying he won’t be sacked at the biggest stage of Africa football is far more than a Disgrace!!

Sir, you are not a sincere person… the video is very clear. there’s no next person in sight, meanwhile Rohr was just there. this is the height of childishness and immaturity on Pinnick’s part. I lost all the respect I had for him. must we always wash our dirty linen in public?

Disregard that video spreading of Amaju Pinnick supposedly snubbing Gernot Rohr. He went to handle some task his attention was called to. Him and Rohr hugged during the Super Eagles’ bronze presentation celebration.
Amaju is also backing Rohr against those calling for his sack. pic.twitter.com/hxtm0Daftk
