Mixed reactions trail Audu Ogbeh’s pizza importation claim
What is in a pizza? Many Nigerians have been asking and the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, also seems to be puzzled with that question.
The Minister finds it “very annoying” that Nigerians have become so obsessed with foreign-made products that they now order pizza from London to Nigeria and he wants it checked.
The minister had said Nigerians who import pizza from London usually make the orders in the morning, through British Airways airlines.
WuzupNaija reports that Ogbeh made the claim when he appeared before the Senate committee on agriculture to defend his ministry’s 2019 budget.
Since the news went viral it has sparked a debate among Nigerians on social media, While many are still doubting the minister’s claim, some have been jeering at him over the claim.
These are some of the reactions:
Dominos out there like “ after all the buy one get one free” promo we do, y’all still order Pizza from London and get British airways to deliver it to Nigeria ???

I’ve heard of someone who doesn’t fly Nigerian local airlines. If he wants to go from Abuja to Lagos for instance, he takes British Airways to London first. And then fly from London to Lagos. He is currently a Governor. People are mad, vain, rich and spoiled in this country ? https://t.co/3K8T3jODCZ

Audu Ogbeh, Nigeria’s minister of Agriculture said there are Nigerians who order Pizza from London and get it delivered to Nigeria via British Airways.
For a country that imports toothpick & stockfish, I don’t know why some people think it’s impossible.

When you have the likes of Audu Ogbeh and his pizza chatter and Fashola telling Buhari we have 24 hours power supply and Tolu Ogunlesi who suggest odd-number plate for driving in Lagos in a room meeting with Buhari, the possiblity of deriving effective solution is less than 5%!
