After the announcement by MMM that it was freezing accounts for 30 days, a 45-year-old man has allegedly beaten his wife to coma for using the money meant for their children’s school fees to invest in the ponzi scheme.

The man, identified as Mark Friday, was arrested in Calabar, the Cross River State on Thursday.

Friday had given his wife, Ekamma N280,000 to pay their three children’s fees but seeing a quick opportunity to make fast money, the woman invested all the money in the scheme without telling her husband, hoping to pay up after making the extra money promised by MMM, Inside Calabar reported.

While the woman was still struggling to absorb the news that MMM accounts have been frozen, the school sent a letter to Friday that his children would not be allowed to write their examinations if he fails to pay their fees which were to balance up his earlier part payment.

Quizzing his wife about the fees’ whereabouts, she opened up and confessed that she had invested the money in MMM. This angered the father of three so much that he locked the door to their apartment before resuming to beat his wife until she could hardly breathe.

When neighbours eventually forced the door open, they rushed the woman to the hospital before inviting the police to arrest Friday.
