Angry mob sets three ablaze for killing teenage girl for money rituals in Edo

A mob of angry residents, on Monday, lynched and burnt three persons for allegedly killing and mutilating a 17-year-old secondary school student at Otuo community in Owan East local government area of Edo State.

TheNation reports that the angry mob descended on the suspects after they were fingered in the killing of Glory Ohiole for ritual purpose.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim was preparing to sit for the May/June WAEC and NECO.

Some vital organs of the victim were reportedly removed when her body was discovered by the residents.

After lynching the suspects, some buildings belonging to their families were also torched.

Sources said the victim lived in the same compound with two of the suspects at Ikhueran Quarters, Iyeu Otuo, while another source said she was lured into the room of one of the boys where she was killed and her vital organs removed.

The source said one of the suspects popularly known as ‘No Fuck Up’ was nabbed after an investigation by the residents and he named his associates after severe beatings.

He was said to have been dragged to the Otuo Divisional Police Headquarters where he was killed in the presence of policemen and his corpse set ablaze.

Another suspect nabbed in connection with the crime was allegedly caught a few hours later and he was set ablaze.

It was gathered that the third suspect was later nabbed and after interrogation, he said they were sent by a female native doctor from Kogi State.

He confessed that the native doctor told them she was supposed to use the human parts severed from the victim to perform money rituals for them.

When contacted for comments, Edo Police Commissioner, Jimeta Lawan said he has been briefed by the Divisional Police Officer.

Lawan said operatives of the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) are carrying out a thorough investigation of the matter.
