Mom allegedly baths son with hot water for using proceeds from hawking to buy biscuit [Photos]
A yet-to-be-identified mother in Anambra state has been accused of pouring hot water on her son for using the proceeds from the sale of sachet water to buy biscuit.
An activist, Harrison Gwamnishu of Behind Bars Initiative (BBI) popular for rescuing victims of child abuse, rape and advocating for human rights, shared the story on his Facebook page.
It was gathered that the victim hawks sachet water for his mother at Nkpor in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State where the incident reportedly occurred.
Gwamnishu added that despite the injuries on the boy’s hand, the woman insisted that the boy must hawk without treating him of his injuries.
He wrote on his Facebook page:
“A mother boiled hot water and poured on her son. The boy told us he collected some money from his daily sales to buy biscuit.
“No treatment and she still send him to hawk sachet water.
“We arrived Nkpor Anambra State to lend our voice and take him to a specialist hospital for treatment.”
The activist did not indicate if any action had been taken to report the woman to law enforcement agencies but called for contributions from his Facebook friends on how to support the boy to return to school.
“Let’s discuss how we can send this boy back to school ? and how to end child abuse,” Gwamnishu wrote.
