Moment gully erosion pulled down building in Anambra [Video]
A video presently making the round on social has shown the moment a storey building was brought down by gully erosion after a heavy downpour.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Friday morning in Nnewi, a town in Anambra State where gully erosion is a common environmental problem.
A 2017 report says the highest concentration of severe gully erosion in Nigeria is found in five Eastern states of Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Akwa Ibom. Anambra is famous with its Agulu-Nanka-OkoEkwulobia gullies. Gullies of about 120m depth and 2km width have been recorded in this area.
The report says almost all communities in the State are affected by one form of erosion or the other.

Recall that in April residents of the area cried out for help from the state and the federal government after erosion wreaked havoc on the popular 100 Foot Road in Nnewi, displacing many residents from their homes, while various buildings, shops, offices and the popular Bank Road were also threatened.
