A female member of a kidnap syndicate has revealed how her gang sell their victims who are mostly kids for the sum of N300,000.

The gang was arrested by men of the Ogun state Police command for allegedly kidnapping kids in some parts of the state.

The suspect identified as Joy Okorie in her confessional statement when the gang was paraded on Wednesday at the State Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, said her gang sold each kid they kidnap for N300,000.

Okorie told PUNCH that she and other members of the syndicate sometimes sold each of the kids in the range of N300,000 and N450,000.

She said

“I sold two boys for N300,000 each”.

She however claimed that she was caught in her first time of engaging in the crime and she that regretted her action.

The State Police Command said it had recovered three kids from the three-member-syndicate which allegedly specialized in child stealing in the state .

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this, adding that the suspects – Kate Njoku, Joy Okorie, both female, and Onyeka Joseph, reportedly abducted children and sold them outside the state.

He said the three kids were recovered from Anambra State where they have been enrolled in elementary school.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspects’ mode of operation is to go into different neighborhood where they targeted children and rent an apartment” in an attempt to carryout their heinous act.

The PPRO disclosed that the arrest of one Mary Paul, a principal suspect, who he said is undergoing trial in Ondo State, led to the arrest of three suspects.

He said

“The suspects make friends with unsuspecting parents of the targeted children, gain their trust and sometimes become a child care giver in the absence of the unsuspecting parents.

“In the process, the suspects having appreciable information about their victims will suddenly disappear with the wards of their unsuspecting neighbours without trace.”

Oyeyemi who said the suspect would soon be prosecuted accordingly, urged the residents of the state to be vigilant “and not allow themselves to be preyed on cheaply.”

It was gathered that one of the kids, Olayinka Ayaji who was kidnapped alongside his sister, Ayobami in Sagamu, last year has been given new name, Bright.

While Olayinka was handed over to his parent, Oyeyemi said efforts are on to rescue his sister.

However, parents of the two other rescued kids are yet to be identified.
