NasaNasarawa: Union urges Gov. Sule to constitute mgt. team for COE
The Joint Union of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions (JUNSTI), has urged Governor Abdullahi Sule to constitute the management team for the College of Education (COE), Akwanga.
The body comprising unions from the College of Education (COE) Akwanga, Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, as well as the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, made the call while briefing newsmen at the end of its meeting on Thursday in Lafia.
Dr. Adah Benjamin, Chairman of the joint union said the call became imperative to ensure industrial harmony in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Benjamin said the appointment of a Sole Administrator to head COE Akwanga, following the sacking of the institution’s management team in February 2020 was alien to the law establishing the school.
“We, therefore, want the governor to constitute the management of COE Akwanga as tenable in the law establishing the college,” he said.
He also appealed to the governor to implement the promotion and annual increments of their members from 2015 to 2020.
The Chairman commended the governor for signing into law, the amended acts establishing the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic and College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology Lafia.
He, however, appealed to the governor to assent to the amended law establishing the COE Akwanga, which was recently passed by the state house assembly.
The Joint union chairman also thanked the governor over the appointment of one of its members from COE Akwanga, Mrs. Hashiya Ahmed, as Secretary, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
He pledged the union’s support to the Governor Sule-led administration to succeed in delivering good governance to the people of the state.
