NATIONWIDE RACKET! India arrests Nigerian man with drugs worth N331 million, links him to international drug cartel

A Nigerian national, John Somadina, has been arrested in India over his alleged involvement with an international drug cartel.

According to reports, Somadina was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Thursday at Vadodara railway station for possession of drugs to the tune of Rs 6 crore [about N331,344,000].

Authorities in India found that Somadina, 41, has used multiple aliases in the past, adding that preliminary investigation suggested his involvement in over 12 cases of drug seizures across India in the past year.

NCB officials stated that Somadina was in contact with international drug cartels based in South American countries and used to bring drugs into India through various carriers.

NCB suspects that he has run a nation-wide racket since 2014. Further investigation is underway.

More than 12 persons from Nigeria, Kenya, Venezuela, Vietnam, Colombia and Brazil have been arrested in different cities and consignments of drugs have been seized.

Two of these cases where Nigerians were held from Ahmedabad and Vadodara railway stations by NCB are also linked with Somadina. Peter Okafor was held from Vadodara in June 2017 with 843 gram amphetamine, 255 gram cocaine, and 65 gram ecstasy tablets, worth a total of Rs 3.5 crore.

Another person John William Best was arrested from Ahmedabad railway station with 587g of cocaine and 700g of amphetamine worth Rs6 crore in the same duration.
