Ngige threatens to sue INEC over Buhari’s defeat in Anambra
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has threatened to sue the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), over the defeat of President Muhammadu Buhari in some parts of Anambra State in Saturday’s poll.
Ngige who is the agent of Buhari in the election faulted the results INEC declared in Idemili areas of the state.
While saying that the final results declared by INEC did not tally with the results collated in polling units and wards in the areas, Ngige called for a withdrawal of the results or he would challenge the declaration in court.
He said the results declared by INEC was a total breach of the Electoral Act.
The minister said,
“I’m going to challenge these results in court if INEC does not handle this complaints well by ordering a fresh poll in the areas”.
Ngige added that card readers in the area failed to work during the poll in Idemili areas which happened to be his home area.
He said,
“I’m calling for the outright cancellation of the presidential election in Idemili North and Idemili South Local Government Areas or I will take up the matter in court”.
