Niger Delta University joins ASUU strike

Published

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Niger Delta University branch, Bayelsa State, on Tuesday, joined the total and indefinite strike declared by the national leadership of the union over the Federal Government’s failure to implement the 2019 Memorandum of Action and the disputed Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.

A statement in Yenagoa by the branch chairman and secretary, Dr Tonbara Kingdom and Dr Ebi Baraka, said the decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the NDU ASUU on Tuesday.

The statement read in part,

“To join the total, comprehensive and indefinite strike embarked upon by the National Executive of our Union with effect from Tuesday, March 24, 2020 since Government had failed to satisfactorily address all the issues raised in the 2019 MoA reached between FGN and ASUU as well as ignored the objections of ASUU against IPPS.

“During this period, there won’t be lectures, examinations, supervision of projects or theses, conferences, workshops and statutory meetings.”
