Nigerian, Madagascan lover arrested with N489m worth of illicit drugs in the Philippines [Photos]
A 27-year-old Nigerian man and his 23-year-old Madagascan lover have been arrested in the Philippine with illicit drugs said to be worth over N400 million naira.
The suspects Lawrence Ikegwuruka Obinna, Nigerian, and Michaella Agustine, Madagascan, were both residing at the same address in Cavite before their arrest, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said.
According to BanderaInquirer, the lovers were arrested on Tuesday by a joint Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police operatives.
About 10 kilograms of methamphetamine worth PHP68 million (about N489 million) were seized from the two suspects in the buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Tuesday.
The Chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, said both suspects, who were put under surveillance for three months, were arrested around 10 a.m.
Both will be facing non-bailable charges for trafficking and possession of dangerous drugs under the Philippine Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
