Nigerian referees missing as CAF releases list of 27 officials for 2019 AFCON

Published

No Nigerian referee was giving the nod by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate in the 2019 AFCON tournament scheduled to hold in Egypt between June 21 and July 19.

CAF released the list of 27 officials that will handle the games of the tournament on Wednesday, but Nigerians were conspicuously missing, making it a decade long tradition of Nigerian referees missing out on FIFA and CAF tournaments.

In the CAF’s list of officials, only one assistant referee, Baba Adel, is named from Nigeria and he will be an assistant at the tournament.
