Nigerians blast Patience Jonathan over $15M medical bill
Nigerians have continued to react to the comment by former Nigerian First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan that the $15 million traced to her account was for medical bills abroad.
Patience in a letter with reference number GA/Abibo/00226/2016, written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co, addressed to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Skye Bank to lift the restriction on the accounts because the funds in it were for medical purpose abroad.
But Nigerians are having none of that as they took to the social media to air their views about the issue.
Here are a few of the comments:
Patience Jonathan claims $31.4M is for her Medicals? Press ur calculator; $31,400,000×320= N10,048,000,000.

Shameless people. Ole olojukokuro. Adults that are never ashamed to steal even for everybody’s korokoro. I wonder the kind of lessons they teach their children. For Nigeria to make progress, this kind of people must be deleted from our society. They’ve stolen over the years and ended up rendering a blessed nation bankrupt. Clinton left office in the US and took a loan to buy a house which he repaid together with Hillary. That’s why their nation is making progress. Leadership to them is a call to service. For Nija, it is to steal. They should know they’re giving themselves a fast ticket to hell. If they escape the corrupt earthly judiciary they will never escape divine judgement – Joe
This is a simple question, where do you get $15m dollar from? No one argue what the money is will be used for. lf the huge amount is for medical treatment in different companies and people name even including the house boy. Nobody argue but Nigerians want to know how she got the money simple. –Peter
As enshrined in Section 484 of the Criminal Code Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990. It states, “Any person who, with intent to defraud any person, falsely represents himself to be some other person, living or dead, is guilty of felony, and is liable to imprisonment for three years.” – Christopher Igbokwe
This woman is further implicating herself. Even her lawyer should at least keep quiet. You don’t have to talk until you are being asked to. I know this woman patience will be the one to expose her husband and bring him to shame.
Is that not a disgrace that a wife of a former president who claims to be for the masses ( as he had no shoes), will end up having such amount in her, even using pseudo names to open bank accounts, and for her to be coming to the pages of newspaper to claim the money belongs to her, show how low-life this madam patience is.
Honestly, she is making the investigation very easy for the efcc. – Obosi Warrior
$15 for medical expenses? Madam you must be suffering from an all round disease called EIBM (everywhere infected beyond medication). Since it’s beyond the science of medicine , by the time you cool your legs and theiving fingers in jail , it will be thoroughly healed. Shameless criminals, that have abused the trust given to them.- Galantman
First they said it was $34m, then $31m. Now they are saying it is $15m. How much is this Patience Jonathan’s money? Let’s start from there
