Nothing wrong with playing secular music in churches, says Stonebwoy
Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall and reggae artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name, Stonebwoy, has said that there is nothing wrong in worldly music getting played in a Church.
The dancehall musician made this known in reaction to a video which showed members of Rev Obofour’s Church dancing to his music right inside the Church’s auditorium.
When the video surfaced, many condemned the Church for okaying and allowing its members to dance to a worldly song right inside their auditorium.
However, Stonebwoy sees nothing wrong with the new trend which seems to be taking place in Ghanaian Churches these days.
According to him, such should be left alone.
“Nobody complains when gospel music is played in the pub or at the bar but when secular music that is popular among the people is played in the church people go haywire,” he said.
“Leave the churches alone, the body of Christ is you and I. Let us not use the opportunity to express hate or ignorance towards the church or its people, Christians or people who have a certain belief and are open-minded as well.
“Remember that the body of Christ is actually not the temple sitting out there it’s you.
The temple of God is the body you have…your body my body and only God knows what we do to our bodies on daily basis.”
