NSCDC arrests 10 ‘yahoo boys’ in Lagos

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested 10 cybercrime suspects at their hideout in Ojodu Berger, Lagos State.

The Punch gathered that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off by one of their victims, Emmanuel Demini.

The victim claimed that he was abducted, assaulted and forced to engage in cybercrime.

The NSCDC Lagos State Commandant, Mr Tajudeen Balogun, said upon their arrest, six HP laptops, two Dells laptops and one Compaq laptop, as well as 16 phones, two debit cards, an Airtel modem, One Orange WiFi modem, 11 laptop chargers, two extension boxes, a grey Toyota Camry with number plate EPE 406 FN, a wrap of Indian hemp and some charms were recovered from them.

Balogun said,

“On May 22, the state command got a piece of information on a case of abduction, assault and cybercrime. This was as a result of a tip-off by a victim, Emmanuel Demini. The victim claimed that he was abducted, assaulted and forced to engage in cybercrime by the suspects.

“The command swung into action and arrested 10 suspects made up of nine males and one female. The arrest was made at No. 14B Animashaun Street, Progressive Estate, Ojodu Berger, Lagos State, around 12.30pm.

“The suspects are Frank Chinese, Ahmed Musa, Desmond Ever, Pretty Kingsley, Benjamin Irabor, Benjamin Okay, Akapo Prosper, Innocent Paul, Esther Uwalaka and Olamide Edun.”

The state commandant added that the corps would not rest on its laurels in ridding the society of such crimes, adding that it would ensure that the suspects face justice.

He admonished landlords, parents and the society at large to report suspicious activities to the corps as well as other security agencies.
