Ogbeni Dipo, Abdulmahmud drag each other in fierce Twitter war as ‘shot’ hits Omojuwa

Abdulmahmud Dipo

Twitter Nigeria is presently abuzz as popular career development expert Dr. Dipo Awojide and a former president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Abdulmahmud Aminu set the micro-blogging site on fire with creepy tweets against each other.

When elephants fight it is the grass that suffers, an African proverb has made us believe, but in this case, the grasses don’t look like they are being trampled upon as they also lend their fist to the fight between Ogbeni Dipo and Abdulmahmud.

That does not totally rule out that the heavy shots being fired between the duo will not fulfill its mission. As shots are being fired, stray bullets flying around, it is hitting hard on the targets, passersby and those who have pitched their tent on the sides of the two warring parties. Spectator Twitter, a section of Twitter users who only read comments and never get involved in controversy, seems to be enjoying the dragging.

As far as we can trace, the latest war of words started on Sunday afternoon when a social media user subbed Dipo by firing a salvo via his handle @omoboyinka.

@omoboyinka tweeted:

“After I called out the so called Ogbeni Dipo over his unruly behavior towards @AbdulMahmud01, the clown blocked me. I wasn’t even following him. He thinks he can disrespect someone way older than him & not receive same on this street. At 33, Dipo lacks sense. Yeye dey smell.”

Abdulmahmud, a lawyer who was NANS president in the early 1990s, quoted the tweet and alleged that Dipo was begging to be appointed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo

He wrote:

“Abeg forget that guy who thinks too much of himself. Were we on these streets when he begged for an appointment? He’s busy ambulance-chasing folks for CVs, feeding on kobokobo.

When another Twitter asked if Dipo truly begged for a federal appointment, Abdulmahmud replied:

Yes o! He “reviewed” his CV and uploaded it into these streets, tagging Osinbajo. The reviewed CV failed. Disastrously. And he get mouth dey abuse pipo.

In another series of tweets, he rubbished Dipo’s CV review business and said:

“I’ve read tweets on hustle… and I’m gobsmacked that anyone with the Ph.D., including paid courtiers, who takes CV Review as a hustle has to be checked out. PhD is the apogee of scholarship, not CV Review hustle. My last word.”

On Monday morning, Dipo finally took time to respond to Abdulmahmud’s series of attacks against him.

He tweeted:

“This is a lie. A 50-year-old like yourself should not be fooling around and lying recklessly at this age. You’re 50 but you behave like a child.

“Your entire generation must be ashamed of you. Grow up sir.

“Setting the records straight – there was never a time when I posted my CV and tagged Osinbajo begging for an appointment. I have NEVER sent my CV to Osinbajo or anyone that works with him either online or anywhere else. I have NEVER.

“And even if I did send my CV to Osinbajo or his associates, with over 10 years post-graduation experience, lecturing in 2 top British Universities and a PhD from a top 5 UK Business School, I am well qualified for several positions at the State and Federal level.”

Not satisfied yet, a visibly enraged Dipo went low and dragged Abdulmahmud in the mud by tagging his wife in their war of words.

He tweeted:

“I am not one of the folks sleeping with your wife. Not that I even fancy her. Stop lying on me or dragging my business just because you don’t like me. It’s okay not to like me but stop lying.

“I’d be very ashamed of myself if I ended up being an internet troll at 50, spending the whole day dragging folks way younger than me.”

His response dragging Abdulmahmud’s wife in the war of words set Twitter on fire as many social media users took offense in it.

Abdulmahmud who became angered seeing his wife being dragged into their social media crossfire declared war against Dipo.

He wrote:

As the salvos were still flying around, popular social media influencer Japhet Omojuwa, who seems to have some iron to grind with Abdulmahmud, waded in by pitching his tent with Dipo.

Omojuwa tweeted:

He is well over 50 but you have to please ignore his age. Because his behavioural tendencies are inversely proportional to his age per year. You can’t afford to engage him. I used to do that 7 years ago but that was before I realised his age wasn’t a factor in his thinking ability”

Abdulmahmud fired back at Omojuwa:

As their friends and followers took up the battle and continued to spit fire on Twitter, Dipo later called on those in his camp to sheath their swords and not abuse anyone.
