Opera singer, Charity Sunshine, who received two double lung transplants dies at 35

Eccentric coloratura soprano singer, Charity Sunshine Tillemann-Dick died yesterday after a long struggle with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension.

Charity Tillemann-Dick had developed idiopathic pulmonary hypertension when she was 20 years old and had to receive two double lung transplants.

She had her first emergency lung transplant in 2009 and, later, needed another after her body started to reject them. After being placed on advanced life support, doctors found a match.

Charity maintained her international career through a double-lung transplant, inspiring colleagues and audiences with her positive attitude.

Her roles included Violetta and Gilda, and she performed with Zoltán Kocsis, Éva Marton, Condoleeza Rice, and many others.

She wrote a book, The Encore, about her experiences.

She was 35 years old.
