APC Senator-elect for Kwara South Senatorial District, Mr Lola Ashiru, on Monday described the victories recorded by the party in Saturday’s National Assembly elections as God-ordained.

Ashiru said that the victory was a sign of new dawn for socio-economic development for the senatorial zone and the state at large.

“The people by the mandate freely given to me as taken their destiny in their own hands in a bid to actualise the desired transformation envisioned for district and state.

“With this victory, the chains of underdevelopment, poverty, hunger and unemployment has been finally broken,’’ Ashiru said.

The senator-elect thanked party leaders, supporters and well-wishers for their determination and sacrifice.

“Certainly, this victory is God-ordained divine intervention to free the people of Kwara from self-inflicted bondage.

“The people of Kwara South were faced with a choice between the old ways that profit nothing and a new way full of promises and hope of a new beginning.

“We have once again displayed our unbending spirit of unity, we have spoken with one united voice and we have spoken decisively too.

“The chains of stagnation, underdevelopment and unemployment have been broken.

“This victory is for the people, dedicated to men, women and youths, whose passion, dedication and determination got us to where we are today.

“Today is about the nurses, teachers, farmers, artisans, traders, and others who spoke loud and stood firm for this revolution.

“All glory and adoration to Almighty God who is the giver of all good things, without him, nothing can be achieved.

“I am most humbled by the trust you bestowed upon me as the Senator representing Kwara South in the 9th National Assembly.

“We are not far from the change and development that we voted for, we are very close to a befitting society where human dignity and the pursuit of happiness is a right,’’ he said.

Ashiru polled 89,704 to defeat his closest rival, Rafiu Ibrahim of PDP, who polled 45, 704.

Ibrahim is currently a serving senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking.
