Over 10,000 apply to join Amotekun in Ondo
No fewer than 10,000 applicants have applied to join the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, an official has said.
The Commander of Amotekun Corps in the state, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, on Wednesday, disclosed this while on inspection to farmland destroyed by some herdsmen and their cows.
He said the screening exercise for the prospective officers is ongoing.
He said all successful applicants would commence training immediately saying the Ondo state corps will be an envy of all other states.
While speaking on the destruction of farmlands by cows, he disclosed that officials of the corps have arrested 42 cows for destroying farmlands around Alagbaka extension in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
According to him, the cows were arrested after series of complaints by owners of the farmlands in the axis and the herders failed to control their cows.
He explained that over eight separate farmlands were destroyed with crops like maize and cassava were completely destroyed while the herders who were said to heavily armed chased away the farmers from their farms
