Olympique de Marseille’s president, Pape Diouf dies of coronavirus
The world and the football community are in grief over the death of former Olympique de Marseille’s president, Pape Diouf.
Mr Diouf died on Tuesday of complications from the coronavirus. He was 68.
He led the French club from 2005-2009 as its first black president.
The club said in a tweet: “It is with great sadness that Olympique de Marseille learned of the death of Pape Diouf.
“Pape will remain in the hearts of the Marseillais forever, as one of the great architects in the club’s history.
“We send our sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
