Passenger rescued as flood sweeps man, car away in FCT
A man, identified as Mr James Odeh, has died after he was swept away by a flash flood in the Lokogoma District of Abuja.
The FCT Emergency Management Agency said the body of the victim had been recovered by the FEMA search and rescue team from a flooded river along Dogon-Gada area, near Efab Housing Estate, Lokogoma on Wednesday.
Odeh, 35, was attempting to drive through a flooded area when he was swept away by the raging waters.
But his passenger, Nsendoo Uketar, 20, was rescued by the FEMA team while the victim’s Toyota Corolla was also recovered from the flooded river.
The FEMA Director-General, Alh. Idriss Abbas advised residents to stay away and avoid driving through flooded sites, noting that “most people under-estimate the strength of water and the danger it poses.”
