The Police have arrested a 59-year-old Pastor Okedokun Abiodun of the Light Christian Church, Odeda town, in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State for forcefully defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The Divisional Police Officer for Odeda Division, Ajayi Williams, it was learnt, mobilised detectives to the scene of the alleged rape and arrested the pastor following a report by the victim’s father who reported the incident at the Police Division.

The victim’s father told the Police that the pastor saw his daughter playing in company of other children and called her to go bring his key for him in the room, but while the girl ran for the key, the pastor followed closely from the rear, shoved her into the bed, covered her mouth with his hands and then raped her.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this in a release on Tuesday, stated that the Pastor had confessed to the Police during interrogation that he defiled the said minor.

Abimbola, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated further that while the suspect is being detained at the Odeda Police Station, the victim has been taken to the General Hospital, also in Odeda, for medical attention.

According to the Police Spokesman in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has directed that the suspect should be transferred to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for thorough investigation and prosecution.
