Nigerians are sad about the death of Mayowa Ahmed, the lady for whom money was raised with the #SaveMayowa campaign.

Apart from the sadness expressed as news of the death filtered in, Nigerians in the Twitverse, also expressed anger at popular blogger, Linda Ikeji and Nollywood actress,Toyin Aimakhu who claimed after the campaign that the deceased’s family were only scamming Nigerians with the cry for help.

It had taken the intervention of the Lagos State Police command who investigated the issue and found that it was not a scam to settle the issue.

One of the reasons Nigerians are angry with Ikeji and Aimakhu, who also played active roles in raising more than N30 million for Mayowa’s treatment was that they caused unnecessary heartache for the lady who was already suffering.

However, some people believe Ikeji and Aimakhu are not to blame, rather effort should be put in educating women on how to prevent and stop the deadly disease.
