Petrol stations in P’Harcourt ignore FG’s directive, sell at N145 per litre
Four days after the Federal Government reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit (petrol) from N145 to N125, some filling stations in Port Harcourt have yet to revert to the new price regime.
Our correspondent, who monitored the sale of the product in some filling station in the Rivers State capital, observed that dealers were only selling PMS at N145 against the new price fixed by the Federal Government.
At Linfox petrol station located at Whimpey by Ada George road, the attend told our correspondent on Sunday that they decided to stick to the old price because they were still selling their old stock.
The attendant, who did not mention her name promised that the management of the fuel station would revert to the new price by next week.
“We still have old stock and we cannot change to the new price of N125 because we would be running at a loss,” the fuel attendant insisted.
Also, at Royal Dynasty located along Ada George road, the dealer was selling the product at N145 per litre without any protest from the buyers.
“For now, it is still N145 per litre for petrol and that is how it will be until we finish selling what we have in our tank. We don’t want to lose so that we will remain in business,” a worker at the Royal Dynasty filling station said.

At Seavon filling station in Elioparanwo, Obio/Akpo LGA, petrol was sold at N145, just as one of the attendants told our correspondent that he was not aware that the price of the product had been reduced to N125.
When contacted, the Operations Controller of the Department of Petroleum Resources, Utuk Nkanga, said the agency would monitor the sales of fuel in the state on Monday (today).
