Photos: See why Egun people protested at Lagos State Secretariat yesterday
Following the violent clash that broke out between Egun people and Yorubas last week in the Lekki area of Lagos State, the former on Wednesday, embarked on a peaceful protest to the Lagos State Secretariat.
The youth leader in Otodo-Gbame a waterfront community, Mr Ahisu Celestine, who led the protest said Egun residents have unjustly been evicted from the area.
He said excavator was brought in the middle of the night to demolish houses after chasing residents away. He added that some of the houses were set ablaze during the demolition.
Celestine stated that the demolition was carried out after the residents got a court injunction restricting the Lagos State Government or anybody from demolishing any waterfront community.
The youth leader accused one Mrs Ajoke Adebayo, owner of Children International School, of mobilising mobile policemen to the community.
Recall that last week hoodlums reportedly torched houses belonging to the Egun people in Lekki during inter-ethnic conflict.
