Published

A fighter jet on Thursday crashed in northern Thailand’s Chiang Mai province, killing one pilot and injuring another, according to the Thai air force.

The Air force spokesman, Pongsak Semachai, said the plane had two pilots on board which crashed during a training session.

According to the spokesman, the Aero-L39 Albatros training jet was based in Chiang Mai’s 411 Air Squadron base.

The plane’s engine malfunctioned when the accident happened.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

It was the second jet fighter crash since 2017 when a Gripen jet crashed during a Children’s Day airshow in front of hundreds of observers, killing one pilot.
