Police arrest 115 thugs in Kano

The police in Kano have arrested 115 for thuggery.

The Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, in a statement on Friday, said 12 others were arrested for armed robbery, five for kidnapping, and 10 for fraudulent activities.

Haruna said the suspects were apprehended within the last two and a half months in different parts of the state.

He said other suspects arrested include, seven motor vehicles/tricycles thieves as well as four drug dealers.

He said items recovered from the suspects include two motor vehicles, two tricycles, seven motorcycles and two bicycles.

The four drugs dealers were arrested with 162 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp valued at N810,000 and 11 cartons of Codeine Expectorant valued at N935,000.

“Other items recovered include 45 GSM handsets, six assorted arms including; One (1) AK 47 Rifle with 30 rounds of live ammunition, two pump action guns with 321 live cartridges, One (1) double-barrel gun with 66 pellets live ammunition and two locally made guns.

“Similarly, we recovered 132 knives, 27 machetes and 28 clubs popularly known as ‘Gora’ in the Hausa language.
