Police arrest 34 suspected cultists in Abuja
The police in Abuja have arrested 34 suspected cultists at their hideout in Gwako, Gwagwalada Area Council while holding a meeting.
Two locally-made pistols and some charms were allegedly recovered from the scene by operatives.
The Federal Capital Territory police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, disclosed in a statement in Abuja on Monday, that the suspects comprised current and former students of different tertiary institutions.
It said, “As part of the ongoing measures to curb the menace of cultism in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command on Sunday at about 0750hrs, acting on a tip-off, arrested some suspected cultists at their hideout in Gwako, Gwagwalada Area Council.
“The suspects numbering about 34 were arrested around Gwako hills while having their cult meeting.”
Those in custody include Samuel Olatunji 24 years, Osarentin Solace, 25, Emmanuel Jeremiah, 19, Silver Okemini, 32, Shadrach Joel, 25 and Eraikhuemen Prince, 22.
The police said the suspects would be arraigned after investigation.
