Police arrest four for robbing, killing victim in Ondo

The Police in Ondo on Monday said it has arrested four suspected armed robbers for allegedly robbing and killing their victim.

WuzupNigeria gathered that the suspects – Lucky Ofanyi, 36; Daniel Okhio, 40; Godwin Friday, 32; and Femi Adesanya, 45 – were arrested in connection with the armed robbery that took place in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of the state, in December 20.

The robbers were said to have killed one Mr Adebayo Orogun in the robbery operation, while some of his items were also stolen.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Femi Joseph, disclosed that the suspects were arrested following a tip off and they had confessed their involvement in the dastardly act.

He said,

“On December 21, 2019, at about 3am, the suspects invaded the house of one Mr Orogun Adebayo at his residence in Ifon and shot and killed him. They also robbed the family of their valuables which include the sum of N25,000.00, mobile phones of different makes: one Samsung galaxy phone, one Techno 4 phone, one Tecno 6 phone, one Infinix phone, two Itel phones and unspecified amount of money from his car.

” The incident was reported at Ifon Police Station by the wife of the deceased Mrs. Adejoke Orogun and was transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for discreet investigation.

“Through intelligence gathering, there was a headway which led to the arrest of the suspects and they all confessed to have been part of the robbery and killing on the said day. “

Joseph added that items recovered from the suspects include one pump action loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition, one locally made double barrel pistol loaded with two live cartridges, one cutlass, one iron bar, one Infinix phone and one Tecno phone belonging to the deceased and his wife.

He said the suspects were currently with the men of Special Anti-Robbery Squad [SARS] helping with further investigation, adding that they would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
