Police launch manhunt for robbers who allegedly vandalized ATMs of a bank in Ilorin

The Police on Thursday launched a manhunt for suspected robbers who allegedly vandalised two Automated Teller Machines (ATM) of a bank in Ilorin and carted away an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects whose identities and numbers are yet to be ascertained by the Police were said to have carried out the act before daybreak on Thursday.

The incident which happened along New Yidi road in the state capital was said to have amazed many residents in the area who got to be aware of it later in the day.

The suspects, after breaking the machines and stealing the money lodged in them reportedly set the devices ablaze before bolting away.

Kwara state Police command said investigation of the development was in progress and assured that the suspects would be fished out to face the wrath of the law.

The command, in a statement signed by its spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the state commissioner of police, Kayode Egbetokun frowned at the development and had vowed to stop at nothing in apprehending the perpetrators.

The statement said the commissioner appealed to public spirited individuals to volunteer information that can lead to the arrest of these suspects “as no effort will   be spared to see that this ugly trend is nipped at the bud.”

The statement, while allaying fear of people of the state on criminal activities urged the people to always report such activities promptly to the police.

 

“Members of the public are advised to go about their lawful endeavours without any fear, while the business community are to be rest assured that the safety of their lives and properties are not under any threat whatsoever.
