JUST IN: Police reportedly shoot okada rider dead in Berger
A police officer has allegedly shot an Okada rider dead in the Berger area of Lagos State.
Wuzupnigeria learnt that the incident that led to the shooting was sparked by a faceoff between agberos (garage touts) and Okada riders.
According to an Okada rider, who craved anonymity, the incident occurred on Kosoko Road, which links both Lagos and Ogun State.
The source said the Okada riders were aggrieved that they pay two different levies to Lagos street urchins at the Berger end of the road and Ogun ‘street guys’ who mounted a mini roadblock immediately after justrite supermarket along the road.
The source said:
“They (the police) just kill one aboki (Hausa) man. The problem started since last week. You know Kosoko Road has been under construction so they closed it in front of Justrite. Agberos (garage touts) from Ogun have been collecting ticket money there now that the road has been opened Lagos agberos are also collecting at Berger. The aboki riders are saying it is not right. That they should cooperate and collect at just a point.”
