Proprietor rapes nine-year-old pupil, loses license to operate school in Kaduna
The Kaduna State government on Tuesday withdrew the licence of Liberation College Tirkania over the alleged rape of a nine-year-old pupil by the proprietor, Mr Samuel Ejikeme.
Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Makarfi said in a statement that the school was equally closed down as directed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
“The withdrawal of the licence is in line with the power vested on the Kaduna State Quality Assurance Authority Board, in Part IV, section 17(1) of the law establishing the Authority.
“The Kaduna State government is, therefore, calling on all parents and guardians to withdraw their children or wards from the school,” he said.
The Ministry of Education took the immediate action as soon as it was confirmed by the Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, whose duty it is to oversee that children are not abused or violated.
Muhammad also revealed that the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, also directed KASUPDA to look into the school’s development permit and take further action within two weeks while the culprit, Mr Ejikeme is being detained for prosecution.
