Pupils in collapsed building not up to 100 – LASEMA GM
Lagos emergency agency has dismissed as untrue claims that no fewer than 100 pupils were trapped in the three-storey building that collapsed in Ita-faji area of the state on Wednesday.
The General Manager of The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Tiamiyu Muyiwa Adesina, who spoke to newsmen on Thursday morning at the scene of the incident on 63 Massey Street, Ita-faji, said:
“I have seen picture of the building before it collapsed and I can confirm to you that the floor that housed the school cannot accommodate up to 100 pupils.”
Tiamiyu, however, didn’t give the figure of pupils in the school.
He said,
“Only the school administrator can tell us the number of pupils in the school, but the proprietor is also at the hospital receiving treatment and we can’t confirm that now.”
