A 30 -year-old trader, Mariam Amos, was on Thursday arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly inflicting life-threatening injuries on her landlady, Mrs Tolani Sholanke, with a razor.

The Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 12 at Alakuko, Lagos.

Ayorinde said the accused inflicted deep cuts on the body of her landlady because she gave her a quit notice.

The prosecutor said Sholanke gave the accused a quit notice over her troublesome behaviour with co-tenants in the compound, adding that she reported the case and the accused was arrested.

He said the offence contravened Section 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised). If convicted, Amos is liable to three years in prison.

Amos, who resides at Alakuko, Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until July 18 for mention.
