Dr Muhammad Bashir-Saliu, the Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin, Kwara, on Wednesday admonished Muslims against idolatry acts against Allah.
Bashir-Saliu who gave the warning during his Ramadan Tafsir in Ilorin said all acts of worship should be for Allah (God) alone.
The cleric said Allah hated any act of ascribing partners with him, adding that he forgave all sins but not acts of idolatry.
He noted that if Muslims strictly adhered to the warnings, then Allah would take care of all their affairs in the world and the hereafter.
According to him, Allah enjoins utmost kindness to mothers and that mothers are sacred and must be accorded the highest respect among people.
Bashir-Saliu said after according utmost respect to Allah and Prophet Muhammad, the next was to accord respect to mothers because of their nurturing nature and sacrifices.
“Extend your utmost respect to your mothers, you should praise Allah and then extend your kindness to your mother,” he said.
He also advised people against miserliness, adding that Allah will reduce provisions of misers and prevent them from entering Paradise.
Buhari’s presidency is deaf, dumb – Fayose blasts Adesina
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has responded to a statement by President, Major general, Muhammadu Buhari’s(retd) Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, that his principal refused to deal with him and Governor Nyesome Wike despite his combative and truculent disposition.
Recall that in a piece titled ‘Wike Vindicates Buharists’, Adesina noted that the President would have taken action not only against Wike but former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, for their “anti-Buhari tendencies” but he didn’t.
He was quoted as saying, “The President could have dealt with them in many ways, either overtly or covertly, but he let them be. He was a father ready to tolerate his many children, irrespective of their differing idiosyncrasies, propensities, and predilections.”
Reacting, Fayose said Buhari is an accidental clueless President who is unconscious of things happening in his presidency.
According to him, Buhari’s presidency is deaf and dumb.
He tweeted, “the comment by my brother and friend, @FemAdesina, on the President not “dealing with myself and Gov Wike,” President Buhari, in my opinion, is an “Accidental President,” who is not only clueless but unconscious of happenings in his own Presidency.
“A man who can’t defend or protect his immediate family is not in any way better than an effigy. If not, those around him won’t be talking about a President “punishing” serving governors or even ordinary Nigerians as if they are his servants.
“Femi Adesina, do you realize I have been quiet for a while, having concluded that Buhari’s Presidency is deaf and dumb? So don’t wake a sleeping lion so as not to be confronted with consequences you can’t contend with.”
Sterling Bank to partner tourism stakeholders in marketing Nigeria’s heritage sites
Sterling Bank Plc on Saturday offered to partner with Nigerian tourism practitioners for proper marketing of Nigeria’s tourism sites locally and internationally.
The bank’s Group Head, Propositions, and Partnership, Mr. Wasiu Popoola, made this known during an online meeting organized by the Nigeria Travel Week and Travelscope Magazine.
The theme of the meeting was: “A Fresh Start for Tourism in Nigeria: Transportation Sector”.
Popoola said that the partnership was spurred due to the observation that the tourism industry was an economic activity that had not been fully developed in Nigeria.
He said that the value chain existing in the tourism industry was completely broken, hence the collaboration would bridge the existing gaps.
“Nigeria has a rich lifestyle, cultural and historical destinations; resorts in Lagos are under patronised. So Sterling Bank is looking at wading into every problem hindering the growth of the industry.
“We want to fix the broken parts of the value chain existing in the industry and encourage collaborations between government and the private sector to boost internal and external tourism.
“We will create a digital platform to aggregate all services that every operator in the tourism value chain is involved in, promote their services, and help them get access to the market.
“We will put every operator on the platform to promote collaboration. This way, the broken part in the value chain would be identified and fixed,” he said.
Popoola also noted that where financing was required for facility upgrade for tourists’ sites, equipment, and all, the bank would render some financial assistance.
“When training is required, we have partners who are experts who can also train,” he said.
