Reactions trail FG’s exclusion of bankers from public holiday
The decision of the Federal Government to exclude bankers and those providing essential duties from Friday public holiday has elicited negative reactions from Nigerians on Twitter.
The FG announced the public holiday to help workers prepare for the Presidential and National Assembly elections holding on Saturday.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, “The Federal Government declares Friday, February 22, 2019 as work-free day. Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded.
“The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their polling units for the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections.”
Some Nigerians who reacted on Twitter believe bankers should not be excluded from the public holiday so as to enable them to prepare and travel to vote in the election on Saturday.

But why exclude bankers from having a public holiday? They don’t have PVC?

Why re banker xcluded, its no more public holiday, coz teachers re already on midterm break. Re banker not nigerian citizens, this is sengregation, and denial of certain citizens frm their voting rights. This is no more democrazy. FG have flopped here

Does Buhari and his ministers understand the function of Automated Teller Machines?
To what end should bankers be excluded from public holiday tomorrow?
Are they aware that cash isn’t the only means of payment either?
I’m really curious the reason for the exemption of bankers.

Federal Government Declared Friday Public Holiday and Excluded Bankers.
Are Bankers Not Nigerians?
Are Bankers not eligible to vote?
Don’t Banker’s have polling units to vote too?
Why disenfranchise Bankers?

Bankers are not humans. Bankers do not travel. Bankers do not vote. Bankers do not like convenience. Bankers shouldn’t be concerned with deciding the future of the country. Bankers should just stay and count money. pic.twitter.com/rReKUhAnP9

But on a serious note, if every worker is entitled to vote, and they get a free day to prepare, why leave bankers out? In this era of digital where you have POS, ATM, Internet Banking, Remita, Mobile wallet. People can always transact without visiting the bank!

#Nigeria‘s ruling govt has granted workers the day off 2mrw. But not bankers, who’ve bn told to be sure to be at work. I hope @officialEFCC & the National Financial Intel Unit (NFIU) wll also be at work to track the movement of cash to buy & sell (in) #NigeriaDecides2019?

So bankers are no longer citizens that need to travel and vote especially those that registered outside their current work location. Cash flow for election must not be stop, yet we heard they are fighting against vote buying.

Excludes bankers ke? What the actual fuck is wrong with these guys? So bankers are not Nigerians or what? In fact for this nonsense, you just lost my vote. How inconsiderate of you.
