Read what Commissioner for Health wants to do with unclaimed corpses at General Hospital
The Lagos State Government, through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, has announced that all unclaimed corpses at the General Hospital in Ikorodu for more than statutory six weeks would be mass buried after seven days.
The Commissioner made the announcement through a statement published on national newspapers on Friday, August 19, 2016, calling on depositors of the corpses to come forward and claim their corpses on or before August 25, 2016.
The statement reads, “This is to notify the general public that the depositors of corpses remaining unclaimed in the mortuary at the General Hospital in Ikorodu for more than the statutory six (6) weeks should come to claim such within seven (7) days of this publication.
“Any corpse that is not claimed at the expiration of the seven (7) days of this publication shall be mass buried. You have been duly informed.”
