#ReadWithBayode! Lagos pupils celebrate Word Book Day, visits Nigerian attempting to break reading record [photos]
Some primary and secondary schools’ pupils in Lagos are celebrating World Book Day with a courtesy visit to the You Read Library, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos.
It is also a courtesy visit to cheer and encourage Nigerian born Treasure Olawunmi Bayode who is attempting to set a new Guinness world record for “The Longest Reading Marathon (Read Aloud).”
Bayode hopes to make Nigeria proud by reading for 120 hours at a stretch with only two hours break every 24 hours.
In a series of posts on his @iread_bayode’s Twitter page, fascinated looking students could be seen staring in admiration at Bayode who hopes to break the current record of 113 hours 15 minutes held by a Deepak Sharma Bajagain.
Sixteen hours ago Bayode’s Twitter handler revealed that he had read for 58 hours and counting.
“58 HOURS AND COUNTING!
“Phew! Still on it! I am almost halfway through my minimum target of 120 hours. Someone very special in my life came around today to personally cheer me on – that has doubtless lifted my spirit! I now have more reasons not to give up! Also in celebration of the book day.”
On Wednesday, February 28, 2018, he tweeted “I started from Monday (13:30 GMT + 1), now we’re here! I am still on course to make history. Everything I have done and who I have become prior to this day has uniquely prepared me for this.”
Sponsors of the event include Guaranty Trust Bank, Tagheuer, Lagos state government amongst others.
The book reader had said he is doing this for the youths as a reminder that education is the bedrock of development
Stating his main motive for embarking on the tasking challenge, the young man said he wants to let the whole world know that Nigeria is great and has “LIBRARIES.”

MEN’S ROOM
Men supporting men! One of my favourite media experts, Onimisi Adaba is a veteran On-Air-Personality and he hosts a radio program known as the Men’s Room. I was highly encouraged by the young men who came out yesterday evening to support me. Thank you!#ReadWithBayode pic.twitter.com/8mPOl4xjTk

WORLD BOOK DAY!
Today I join the rest of the literary world to commemorate such an auspicious day that speaks to the very core of human existence and development. What better way to celebrate than a place in the Guinness Book of Records!#ReadWithBayode #WorldBookDay #YouRead pic.twitter.com/nVFn74KN06
