Danny Hicks: Evil Dead II actor dies aged 68

Evil Dead II actor Danny Hicks has died aged 68 after battling cancer.

The actor’s death was confirmed by his company Full Empire Promotions via a video on their Facebook page.

They wrote alongside the clip: ‘On June 30, 2020, we lost a friend, client, and talented actor in Danny Hicks.

Here is our tribute to the star of Evil Dead 2, Intruder, Darkman, and so many other classic horror films. We will miss you Danny! (sic)’

Danny, who had worked closely with director Sam Raimi, had stage four cancer and had only stated in June he had been given ‘between one and three years to live’.

 

He said in the announcement:

‘I gotta tell ya, I sure as hell packed a whole bunch of living into my 68 years. I got no change coming back that’s for sure. And not too many regrets.’ ‘Ok, gotta go,

Playing Jake in Evil Dead II, Danny went on to appear in cult classic films and beloved b-movie horrors.

Hachalu Hundessa: 81 persons killed in protest over singer’s death

About 81 people were killed in Ethiopia after a popular singer’s death sparked violent protests in the country’s Oromia region.

The Oromia Police Chief in a televised press briefing said those killed included protesters and police officers.

Popular singer, Hachalu Hundessa, who focused on the rights of the country’s Oromo ethnic group and was a popular voice in protests which led to the downfall of the previous prime minister in 2018, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Monday.

Following his death, huge protests sprung up in Addis Ababa, the capital city and Oromia region.

Trouble! Child Rights International petitions Ghana police to probe Akuapem Poloo’s nvde photo with son

Popular Ghanaian actress, Rosemond Alade Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo has landed into trouble as Child Rights International has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police in Ghana to investigate her over her nude photo with her seven-year-old son, which has since gone viral on social media.

Recall that on Tuesday, June 30, the actress went completely nude in a photoshoot with her son to celebrate him on his 7th birthday. She said she decided to go naked in front of her son who was only in his underwear because she gave birth to him naked.

Akuapem Poloo has since apologized after facing social media backlash.

But in a statement by Child Rights International, the non-governmental organisation deemed her act as a ‘violation of the welfare principle of the Children’s Act and abuse of the child’s right to privacy and dignity.’
