ROAD EXPANSION! Lagos to demolish properties in Badagry

Published

The Lagos State Government has said it will recover the Right of Way of Aradagun-Imeke-Iworo-Ajido-Epeme roads in the Badagry Local Government Area of the state.

It, however, noted that all identified property owners affected by the decision would be compensated.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Rotimi Ogunleye, stated this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Badagry, adding that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had directed that officials of the government talk with the citizens before embarking on any development that affected them.

“The State Government is proposing the construction of the highest grade of roads with interlocking bricks in these communities to ensure sustainable physical and socio-economic development of the areas,” the Commissioner, who was represented by Mrs Philomena Adenuga, said.

He assured the residents of the area that the government would fulfil its promise to compensate all affected property owners, adding that the government had been committed to the payment of compensation to all affected areas where infrastructural development was ongoing, including Epe, Ikorodu, Irede and Agege.

“I encourage you to submit relevant documents such as land receipt, survey plan, approved building permit to facilitate the payment of compensation.

“I also want to urge you to ensure that developments embarked upon in these areas after the intervention of the government are done in line with the Town Planning and Building Law to ensure a sustainable physical environment,” he added.
