Roberto Martínez tipped to replace Valverde at Barcelona
Last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Valencia in Copa del Rey final has cast doubt on the future of Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde.
According to Catalan radio station RAC1, Belgium manager Roberto Martínez, has been tipped as the favourite to succeed Valverde as the Spanish League champions look set to compete better in the 2019/2020 season, especially as their archrival Real Madrid is on a revamp and rebuilding mission for the next season.
There have also been jokes about James McCarthy replacing Sergio Busquets at the Camp Nou are already doing the rounds. He was signed for both Wigan and Everton by Martínez.
The Everton midfielder might not get his dream move if one of Unai Emery, Ronald Koeman or Max Allegri, who are also believed to be on Barca’s four-man shortlist, get the job.
