SEE the life threatening bridge in Lagos everyone is talking about (video &photos)
To many Nigerians who are not living in Lagos State, the Centre of Excellence, as Lagos is popular called, is a city that is worthy to behold in all ramifications.
However, latest pictures of a portion of the Apapa bridge, which connects Apapa Central Business District (CBD) to Lagos Island and Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Ikorodu Road, have shown that this might not be totally true.
A check on the bridge by our photographer today, August 4, 2016, showed that it is a disaster waiting to happen.
Apart from the caved in portion, some of the pillars holding the bridge have suffered structural defects due to fire incidents that have worn off the concrete parts and exposed the iron rods.
It was gathered from residents and motorists in the area that due to the terrible state of the bridge it often causes unimaginable traffic gridlocks and traffic crimes.
Below are photos taken at the scene today, August 4, 2016:
WuzupNaija recalls that the construction of the bridge started under the regime of former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon and was completed by Olusegun Obasanjo when he was military head of state in the 1970s.
