Seven-year-old kidnap victim rescued in Benue
The Benue State Police Command rescued a seven-year-old boy from kidnappers, a spokesperson has said.
Ebuka Ezewugo was abducted a week ago.
The command Public Relation Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, said the boy was abducted by gunmen last Thursday at his father’s residence in Naka, headquarters of Gwer West local government area of Benue State.
The kidnappers were said to have demanded N30m ransom.
Master Ebuka, was released after men of Operation Zenda an elite squad headed by a Superintendent of Police, Justin Gberindyr, engaged the kidnappers in an exchange of gun battle in a community along Naka road.
The three abductors were arrested while others fled with bullet wounds.
“It is true that a little boy of seven years was kidnapped but our men have rescued the boy,” Anene confirmed.
“When I get the details I will brief you, but the good news is that the boy has been rescued by the police.”
She called on the public to assist the police and other security agencies with useful information to help nip crime in the bud this festive period.
It will be recalled that same operative rescued a medical doctor after he was kidnapped from his residence in Gboko local area of the state, three weeks ago.
