Sex Shop Assault: Remi Tinubu, Senator Abbo’s altercation sparks mixed reactions on Twitter [Video]
The altercation between Senator Remi Tinubu (APC-Lagos Central) and Senator Elisha Abbo (PDP-Adamawa North) accused of assaulting a nursing mother at a sex toy shop in Abuja, has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians on micro-blogging site Twitter.
WuzupNaija reports that while appearing before the six-man panel set up by the Senate to investigate his alleged assault in a viral video, the embattled Senator Abbo, on Tuesday challenged members of the investigative panel that he had no business appearing and making comments about the matter anywhere since the case was already in court.
He, however, said his presence was out of honour for his colleagues.
Senator Tinubu who is also a member of the panel expressed displeasure over Abbo’s comment and this led to an altercation between the two Senators.
Tinubu thereafter informed Abbo that he could be suspended over his action, this comment irked him as he said he won’t allow the committee to threaten him with suspension. He added that he is a Senator like other members of the panel.

While the duo engaged in a hot argument, other members of the panel looked on and attempt by the Chairman of the panel Senator Sam Egwu to intervene was rebuffed by Tinubu.
The video of their face-off which emerged on social media sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians.
While many were of the opinion that Abbo sounded rude with the manner he reacted to the investigative panel, others opined that Tinubu didn’t address Abbo with some respect as a fellow Senator.

See some of the reactions:
Yes because she is a lady. How will she use such words that they can suspend him? Is Remi Tinubu a saint? She has her own skeleton and let those who live in a glass house learn not to throw stones.

So Senator Remi Tinubu that assaulted Obanikoro right inside the Red Chamber is now probing another Senator for assault?

Remi Tinubu or what ever her name is have no right to threatening him with suspension Dey are both senators She didn’t elect him there his pple did She took things personal and was trying to scold him like he’s her son even telling him to keep quiet and switch off his microphone

If Senator Abbo was really apologetic and humbled, when Senator Remi Tinubu told him he could be suspended by the panel he would have been quiet and respectful and not talk back to her like a petulant child, he has not learnt his lesson and has no respect for women.

Wait!! Didn’t Remi Tinubu also slap someone sometime back? She’s got no moral right to be in that disciplinary committee
— Roselle (@Forwetinnah) July 9, 2019
Remi Tinubu lacks moral standing to admonish Abbo.
She slapped Saraki, she verbally assaulted Dino.
She should shut up!
So it’s ok because she’s a woman? https://t.co/SQ4gK6vjsI— Desiderata (@Horsesmouth14) July 9, 2019
So, because it is Remi Tinubu dishing questions and standing her ground. All you can think of is respect/disrespect. Elisha Abbo is not sober of what he did. That is a disciplinary committee, let them do their JOB.

There are two senators involved in a slap scandal:
One slapped a nursing mother
The other slapped the whole nation. One is threatened by Remi Tinubu &co with suspension.
The other was promoted To DeputySenate Pres.?That’s what she meant by “do you want us to defend you?”? pic.twitter.com/cG5KkLBb15

Sen.Remi Tinubu spoke carelessly & arrogantly. When Sen.Abbo tried returning fire;she reminded him that she is another woman. Is she telling us that if you are a woman you have an automatic license to behave roughly & rudely to colleagues? https://t.co/RQ0WpRMjiP

We have opposing views on how senator Remi Tinubu handled herself and that’s fine I think we can all agree the Senator Abbo is a disgrace and if he was even slightly intelligent or had any care for self preservation he would at least pretend he wasn’t such a trash person
— Rhéma Ime-Albert (@MissRhemaAlbert) July 9, 2019
Why is Remi Tinubu acting like she’s the President of the world? Was she not the same woman that was caught on camera displaying her ethnic bigotry towards the igbos?
How can an elected senator threaten another senator with suspension. This woman have so much guts shaa— Obi Of Onitsha ?? (@classicNedu) July 9, 2019
I think the committee too should talk to the Man with some level of respect too. You can’t just seat a family man down and start talking to him like your houseboy!

The woman (tinubu) is deplorable. The guy is a senator representing his constituents; his age is immaterial. He deserves respect. The case is already in court. Why the threats and insults? What has this woman really done for this country?
