Speeding truck kills police officer in Imo
A truck has killed a yet-to-be-identified policeman along Owerri-Okigwe expressway in Imo State.
The incident was said to have happened on Wednesday at Amalim-Atta axis.
Eyewitnesses said that the police officer was on his usual stop and search duty along the busy road when a heavy-duty truck rammed into him and crushed him to death.
A motorist said, “he was doing his normal job and when he waved the speeding truck to stop, it ran into him and killed him instantly.
“The truck driver did not stop but other police officers around followed him up.”
The Imo state Police Public Relation Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu who spoke to our correspondent said that the state command has been briefed about the incident.
He expressed his deepest regret at the ghastly accident.
