Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly hacked four police officers to death at Anyibe, in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The state’s police command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu, in a statement said Logo and Guma local government areas have been under severe attacks from suspected Fulani herdsmen since the New Year, resulting in loss of lives.
He further stated that the police officers came under the fire of insurgents at Anyibe, Logo LGA between 18.00 hours of Sunday and early Monday morning.
“Sadly at the moment, four casualties have been suffered by Police.”
Yamu disclosed that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered additional reinforcement and deployment of officers, including the air asset of the police.
The force spokesman expressed optimism that the attackers would soon be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
