Suya seller allegedly laced customer’s meat with love potion, rapes her several times

An Ebonyi State Magistrate’s Court, on Thursday, arraigned a Suya seller, one Dawuda Ibrahim, for allegedly giving a one Miss Chidinma Anya, Suya he charmed with love lotion potion, in the state.

It was gathered that the victim, was a regular customer of the suspect and that the suspect had constantly asked her out, an advance the victim, Miss Anya, had rejected.

Southern City News gathered that, on February 28, 2020, the victim, had similarly gone to buy Suya (meat) from the suspect, and didn’t know that the suspect gave her a special one infested with potion charm.

It was further learnt that the victim had after eaten the Suya, followed Ibrahim to Enugu and other parts of the South-East, where had canal knowledge of her.

It was alleged that the accused person committed the offence at Ugwuehara village, in the Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state, on February 28, 2020.

He was arraigned on one count of unlawful sexual intercourse before the Magistrate’s Court, on Thursday.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Mathias Eze, told the court that the offence was punishable under section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap. 33, Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria, 2009.

The charge read, “That you Dawuda Ibrahim ‘m’, on the 28th day of February 2020, at Ugwuehara village, within Abakaliki Magistrate’s District, did unlawfully with an intent to have sexual intercourse with one Chidinma Anya, lure her to a place in Enugu State where you caressed by touching her breast and other exotic parts of the body including her private part and you thereby committed an offence punishable under section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap. 33, Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria, 2009.”

The suspect’s Defense Counsel applied to the court that his client be admitted to bail, on the grounds that the offence was bailable.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Nnenna Onuoha, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000.00, with one surety in like sum.

The surety, according to Mrs Onuoha, must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and must provide evidence of identification, such as National ID, Voter’s Card and International Passport, amongst others.

The matter was adjourned till April 4, 2020, for hearing.
