Fast-rising Nigerian skit maker, Taaooma, gets special recognition from CNN

Nigerian social media comedian and skit maker, Maryam Apaokagi better known as Taaooma has received a huge spotlight from International news media, CNN over her art.

She was featured over her family-centric storyline which deals primarily on a typical Nigerian household and their everyday struggles.

She spoke on her journey to stardom and how she became an internet sensation.

In April 2019, she uploaded a skit to Instagram that showed a mother rushing to get her daughter to school.

The daughter had overslept and missed the school bus.

In the 56-second skit made by the comic, Maryam Apaokagi, popularly known as Taaooma, the daughter realizes halfway through the drive to school that she picked up her lunch box but forgot her school bag at home.

The skit was quickly viewed by thousands of Nigerians whom, the comic told CNN, could relate because many parents often have to scold their children.

According to Taaooma, one day, she woke up to hundreds of new mentions and followers on Instagram.

The skit had gone viral.

As people shared the skit, the video racked up more than 85,000 views on YouTube, giving Nigerians a glimpse into Akpaokagi’s style of comedy.

Since then, the 21-year-old has become an Instagram sensation.

Toke Makinwa has accused some men of preventing their girlfriends from supporting her so they don’t level up.

The media personality alleged that such men are scared of their toxic masculinity being checked.

She also stated in her Twitter post that the girlfriends to such men ‘will see the light someday.’

Yoruba Nollywood actress, Yeye Toyin Adegbola, also known as Toyin Tomato is currently in sorrow as she’s mourning her late mum.

The popular script interpreter took to Instagram to reveal that her mum has passed on.

Sharing photos of her mum, she wrote:

“Good night Maami, abiyamo tooto. Iya adura,my gist partner, friend, aunt and mother, u came,u saw and u conquered. D vacuum u left will be missed greatly. We love u so much but God loves u more. Kindly send our utmost regards to ur parents and all ur siblings in heaven. Odaaro Taiyelolu Ejire!!!”

The popular Nigerian Fashion entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani has shared her bitter encounter with how she battled with fibroids and how she has decided to remove her womb.

In a lengthy write up on her Instagram page, she narrated how she found out she had fibroids at age 23 while she was still pregnant with her first child. She stated that she went through hell as she was bleeding continuously for 9 months when she was still pregnant.
