Teachers who called local languages in school ‘vernacular’ should be ashamed of themselves- Yul Edochie
Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has said that teachers who called local languages ‘vernacular’ and flogged children in school for speaking it should be ashamed of themselves.
The 38-year-old criticised the practice of forcing school children to speak foreign languages in a post he shared across social media on Monday.
“To think that some of our teachers flogged us back then in school for speaking our language. calling it vernacular. Can you imagine? You speak your own language you get flogged. All those teachers should be ashamed of themselves. Oyibo people really messed up our brains,” he wrote.
